How Do I Make Air Fryer Fajitas?

Making fajitas in the air fryer couldn’t be easier. On top of being a quick way to cook your favorite Mexican dish, using your air fryer means you’ll have less mess to clean-up after you’re finished cooking, too! To make air fryer fajitas, just follow these three steps:

Step One: Prepare the Fajitas

Before you can start cooking your fajitas in the air fryer, you’ll need to take a few minutes to prepare the ingredients. First, cut the beef tenderloin into thin slices. Then, slice the bell pepper and onion into thin strips.

Step Two: Season the Ingredients

Once your ingredients are sliced, it’s time to add the seasoning. Place the bell peppers and onions in a small bowl and coat the veggies with oil. Add some fajita seasoning to the bowl and toss to coat the vegetables in oil and seasoning. Spread the seasoned vegetables in the bottom of the air fryer basket. Transfer the beef to the same bowl you used for your vegetables and toss with oil and the remaining fajita seasoning. Spread the meat in an even layer over the top of the veggies.

Step Three: Air Fry the Fajitas

Place the basket in the air fryer and cook at 380 degrees for 10 minutes. When the cook time is up, remove the fajita filling, add it to the corn or flour tortillas, and enjoy.

Air Fryer Fajita Tips & Tricks

Making fajitas in the air fryer is a quick and easy way to prepare this classic Mexican dish. And with these tips and tricks, you can whip up your own flavorful dinner for your family tonight with just a few minutes of prep work.

  • Cut the ingredients into even pieces: To be sure all the ingredients for your fajitas cook evenly, it’s important to cut all the peppers, onions, and beef into equal pieces. As you’re chopping, make sure to cut uniform slices of each ingredient to help with even cooking.
  • Toss for even cooking: As you’re cooking your fajitas in the air fryer, remove the basket halfway through the cook time and check to make sure the pieces are cooking evenly. If you notice some of the ingredients are cooked more than others, try tossing the basket to mix the ingredients. Then, return the basket to the air fryer and continue cooking.
  • Try using chicken or shrimp: This recipe can easily be converted to chicken or shrimp fajitas by simply swapping out the beef tenderloin for boneless, skinless chicken breast or peeled shrimp. Just follow the same instructions and cook time using chicken or shrimp in place of beef.

What Cut of Beef is Best for Fajitas?

If you’re looking for the most tender steak for fajitas, it doesn’t get much better than beef tenderloin! Tenderloin is easy to cut and cooks quickly, making it a great option for your air fryer fajitas.

But beef tenderloin can often be an expensive cut of meat. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option when making your fajitas in the air fryer, you could also try using:

  • Skirt steak
  • Flank steak
  • Rump roast

How to Serve Air Fryer Fajitas?

There are so many delicious ways to enjoy your air fryer fajitas after they’re finished cooking! Try these serving ideas for your dinner tonight:

In tortillas: The classic way to eat fajitas is in tortillas. You can use corn or flour tortillas to serve your tortillas. Either way, they’ll be delicious!

Breadless: If you’re looking for a low carb option for your fajita dinner, why not serve them breadless? Simply enjoy the steak and veggies on their own, without the need for tortillas at all.

With some toppings: There’s no reason you have to eat your beef fajitas plain. There are a variety of toppings you can eat with your fajitas to add even more flavor to your dinner, like:

  • Salsa
  • Guacamole
  • Cheese
  • Pico de gallo
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges
