Inflammation Fighting Orange Smoothie
Happy Monday, I hope you had a great weekend! Mine flew right by and I have a busy week ahead with work and my training schedule. I officially got started with my 2019 triathlon season training a few weeks ago. As much as I enjoyed the time off from a set schedule, I am happy to have some structure back into my life. It feels good to follow a plan, workout hard, and wake up with sore muscles from the prior day's exercise. One thing I have added back into that routine to help with the muscle soreness is a favorite post workout drink, which I like to call: The Inflammation Fighting Orange Smoothie. This smoothie is easy to make and so refreshing after a hard workout! The addition of turmeric to the recipe not only adds to the color, but also packs in some fabulous health benefits.
Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice often used in savory Indian cuisine. It has many known health benefits, including acting as a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. The reduction in inflammation will help to alleviate muscle pain after exercise. Turmeric has also been touted to be beneficial for a number of other health issues from gastrointestinal illness to arthritis. I love adding it to my smoothies to give them a healthy boost and spice things up!
