Easy Tips for Eating Well
Avoiding Cooking Things From Scratch
While there is a big push on home-cooked meals, if you don’t have the time you can focus on what is called “half-scratch” cooking. This means you can either buy something that’s already been prepared and “doctor” it up by adding in more veggies or serving it over a bed of greens. Here I took some prepared Ramen Noodles and simple added in some fresh veggies for quick and healthy meal!
Use a Crock-Pot or Pressure Cooker
I absolutely love my Crock-Pot and Pressure Cooker. Both of these items, help minimize the time needed to make healthy, home cooked meals! it is so convenient to add chopped veggies, meat and sauce to a Crock-Pot and let it slow cook all day. Nothing is better than having a meal fully prepared and ready to eat after a long day at work!
On mornings that are hectic, I don’t always have time to get everything ready for the Crock-Pot. This is when I utilized my pressure cooker! I can prepare a meal that tastes like it has been cooking all day, but can be done in less than an hour. One of my favorite things about using the pressure cooker is that meat always turns out so tender and juicy in it! This Pressure Cooker Chicken recipe is a particularly quick and nutritious meal and a family favorite!

Learn to Batch Cook
Nobody likes to give up their Saturday to prepare meals, but batch cooking is something that you can do once a month without it really taking over your life. Taking the opportunity to find the best meals you can batch cook and spend a morning preparing these meals, portioning them up, and freezing them, means that you can easily take a meal out to defrost the night before and you have an easy lunch or evening meal.
Pay Attention to How You Snack
Envision the classic movie theater scene where people are mindlessly eating popcorn. I’ve definitely been there…yikes! Make healthy snacks like these Healthy No-Bake Peanut Butter Crunch Balls to enjoy. They are small nutrient dense portions that will fill you up. Also, make sure to take a break from work or whatever you are doing while snacking to avoid eating while distracted.
