How do I Make the Holiday Crackers?

My favorite thing about this holiday dessert is that it is so easy to make! The kids can make them with minimal help as well.

Step 1: Melt the Chocolate

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set it aside. In a small sauce pan, melt a cup and a half of the chocolate chips or melting chocolate over medium-low heat. Stir continuously while melting the chocolate to avoid it clumping up.

PRO Tip: If the chocolate is too thick, add in some fat…try a tablespoon of butter, cooking oil or vegetable shortening. Continue to add until it is the desired consistency. Do NOT add water or chocolate will seize up.

Step 2: Dip the Crackers in the Chocolate

Using tongs, dip the crackers into the melted chocolate so that the crackers are fully coated.

Step 3: Sprinkle with Crushed Candy Canes

Place the chocolate covered crackers on the parchment lined cookie sheet and sprinkle with crushed candy canes. Allow to set for 20 minutes, then enjoy!

How do I store the Chocolate Covered Ritz Crackers?

The chocolate dipped crackers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

Can I use white chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate chips?

Yes, absolutely! This is a very simple recipe that can be varied in many ways. White chocolate would work great.  Other ideas to try are adding holiday-colored sprinkles to the top of the crackers instead of the crushed candy canes. These delightful crackers could be decorated for just about any holiday!
