Can I Make Blueberry Cream Cheese Pie with Fresh Blueberries?

Using frozen blueberries means you can prepare this pie year round! But if you're making this delicious dessert in the summer when blueberries are in season, you might want to bake it with fresh berries instead of frozen. Luckily, you can easily make this substitution! Just use the same amount of fresh blueberries as frozen and reduce the cooking time by 5 to 10 minutes.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pie Baking Tips

Pies are a popular dessert for any occasion. But they're not always easy to make at home! As you're putting together this homemade pie recipe, remember these baking tips.

  • Place a baking sheet below the pie. Blueberry pie filling gets bubbly as it bakes, which means it could make a mess in your oven. To keep the mess contained, try placing a baking sheet in the rack below where the pie is baking to catch any drips as they happen.
  • Cover the crust with foil. This pie recipe has a long bake time to give the blueberry filling plenty of time to set up and thicken. But that means your crust might start browning before the filling is ready to come out of the oven. If you notice that the edges of your pie crust are getting too brown, simply cover the edges of the crust with a pie shield or a strip of foil, then return the pie to the oven to continue baking.
  • Give it time to cool. The filling in your blueberry pie will continue to thicken as the pie cools, which means you need to give it plenty of time to rest. Your pie will need at least 4 hours (or 12 hours for best results) to cool before slicing to ensure the filling isn't too runny.

How Do You Store Blueberry Cream Cheese Pie?

This pie is so delicious, everyone's going to want a piece! But if you have extra slices during your dinner, you should store the leftovers in the refrigerator since the recipe contains cream cheese. Cover the pie pan with plastic wrap, transfer the extra slices to an airtight container, and keep them chilled. The pie will stay good for up to four days.

  4. Pie was good cream cheese did not melt so there are chucks of pure cream cheese sitting on the top of the blueberries, they did not melt to cover just chunks of cream cheese. Used Trader Joe's brand cram cheese-but I don't think it was the brand. The Blueberries were fresh. There was also a lot of juice on the pate, more then normal.
