How Do I Make Banana Parfaits?

There’s no baking involved in this simple recipe, making it perfect for any get-together! And it’s so easy to make! The most difficult part about this recipe is waiting for the pudding to set after you mix it! To make your banana split in a jar, follow these easy steps:

Step One: Prepare the Pudding

Combine the milk and vanilla pudding mix in a medium bowl and whisk the ingredients together for two minutes, until the mixture begins to thicken. Once the pudding begins to get thick, set the bowl aside to give it time to set.

Step Two: Layer the Ingredients

In the bottom of each 8 ounce jar, place a layer of banana slices. Top the bananas with three tablespoons of pudding, then add a layer of sliced strawberries. Top the strawberries with another three tablespoons of vanilla pudding. On top of the pudding, add 1 tablespoon of crushed pineapple and a swirl of chocolate syrup. Then top the parfait with a dollop of whipped cream, then garnish each jar with chopped nuts and a cherry.

Banana Parfait Recipe Ideas

These no-bake banana parfaits are so simple to make because there’s no baking involved! That means with a few small adjustments, you can create a unique dessert in a jar every time you prepare them. Try these recipe ideas as you’re making your mason jar banana splits:

  • Add some crunch. Give your parfaits a little extra texture with the help of some crushed cookies. Add a layer of crushed graham crackers, Nilla wafers, or Oreos to add some sweetness and crunch to your desserts.
  • Top with some whipped cream. Instead of using frozen whipped topping to garnish the top of each dessert cup, try using whipped cream instead. You can add store-bought whipped cream to the top of your jars or make your own by beating heavy whipping cream with a small amount of sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Use some syrup. Give your mason jar desserts, even more, banana split flavor with the help of sundae syrups. You can drizzle chocolate, caramel, or strawberry syrup over the top of your dessert jars to add even more sweetness.
  • Try different fruits. It doesn’t get much better than the classic combination of bananas, strawberries, and pineapple! But if you want to add even more fruit to your parfaits, go right ahead! You can mix in other tropical fruit (mangos or kiwis), berries (blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries), or canned fruit (peaches, mandarin oranges, or pears) into your parfaits.
  • Make it with banana pudding. Banana-flavored pudding can sometimes be challenging to find, but if you see some at your grocery store, try adding it to this parfait recipe! It will add even more banana flavor to your desert.
  • Add more toppings. The topping possibilities are endless with this fun dessert! In addition to chopped nuts and cherries, you can also top your banana split desserts with mini chocolate chips, rainbow sprinkles, shredded coconut, mini marshmallows, chopped candy bars, almond slivers, chopped pecans, graham cracker crumbs, or crushed cookies.

How Long Do Banana Parfaits Last the Fridge?

Since these parfaits are made with fresh fruit and pudding, you must keep them chilled until you’re ready to enjoy them. Place the lids on the jars to keep the pudding from developing a film on top, and you can keep them in the fridge for up to four days.

How Do You Keep Bananas from Going Brown?

There’s nothing worse than brown, mushy bananas! Luckily, your banana slices shouldn’t go brown when added to these parfaits, thanks to the layers of pudding on top. To keep your bananas from browning as you’re preparing the parfaits, make sure to slice the bananas right before you start layering your ingredients. You can also add some lemon juice to your banana slices to keep them from browning too soon.
