I don't typically make resolutions, but I do like to sit down and write out goals for the year. Many of mine center around health and wellness this year. As I was jotting them down, I came up with these Easy Health and Wellness Tips for the New Year.

Stick to Your Bedtime

Simply sticking to a bedtime schedule can make a big difference in your overall mental and physical wellbeing. While we are catching z's, our body is busy at work healing and repairing our blood vessels and heart.  A good night's sleep is necessary for our immune system to function optimally to help prevent illness. So, make it a priority to get 8 hours of sleep every night. It's a minor way to majorly improve your health.

Hydrate Well Every Day

Proper hydration is important to maintaining health and wellness for a number of reasons. It aids in digestion, maintains body muscle tone, assists the brain to work efficiently, and helps burn fat by making sure the kidneys & liver are functioning optimally.  With all of these great reasons to drink up, it should be easy to get in the H2O our body needs each day. Spend Time with Family and Friends

Another easy way to improve physical and mental wellbeing is to spend time with family and friends. Exercise Every Day

This can be hard during the winter months, but it is so important for emotional and physical health to stay active. Bundle up and take a 20 minute walk. If the weather is lousy, find a short exercise class on the internet or head to the gym to do some weights or hit the treadmill. My 2 dogs motivate me to get outside every day so they can get their much needed exercise!

If you notice that you have a unique problem, consult a doctor and find out how to treat it or resolve it. This could be anything from water retention in thighs to feeling excessively drowsy. They'll be able to diagnose the issue and suggest treatment or medicine that will help.

  1. All of this is such good advice. One of my goals for this year is to be more mindful about staying hydrated. When I manage to stay on target for a few days running, it makes such a difference in everything from my energy level to my general well-being.
