Nothing is better than an ice cold popsicle on a hot summer day! They are a favorite treat for my kids. Although, after checking out the ingredients in store bought popsicles, I was surprised to see how many chemicals, artificial colors and flavors were used. So, I decided to try making them at home.

How do I make the Creamy Orange Pineapple Popsicles?

There are just 2 simple steps to making these delicious frozen treats!

Step 1: Blend the Ingredients

Add the orange juice, pineapple juice, vanilla, sugar, and heavy cream to a blender. Then, blend on medium-high speed for 2 to 3 minutes, until the ingredients are well blended and thickened up. The mixture should be slightly runny, not too thick.

Once the ingredients are blended and start to thicken, pour equal amounts into popsicle mold and freeze for at least 6 hours.

Step 2: Remove from Mold and Serve!

After the popsicles have set, gently remove them from the mold, serve and enjoy!

*Pro Tip: Pour hot water over the OUTSIDE of the mold to make it easier to remove the popsicles.

Can I add fresh fruit to the Creamy Orange Pineapple Popsicles?

Yes, absolutely! Small pieces of orange and pineapple can easily be added to the mixture, just make sure to blend it in with the cream mixture before pouring it into the mold. 

A few other variations:

*Looking to cut back on the calories? Use whole instead of heavy cream, the mixture will not be as thick when poured into the molds, but it will still make a great popsicle!

*The sugar can be increased or decreased depending on preference!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup orange juice fresh or store-bought
  • ¾ cup pineapple juice
  • 3 tablespoon vanilla
  • ¼ cup + 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Add all of the ingredients to a high-quality blender and whip for 2-3 minutes. This will give the ingredients a chance to incorporate and the heavy cream to thicken up. It should be slightly runny and not too thick when you try to pour it.
  • Pour the mixture into the popsicle molds and freeze for at least 6 hours.
  • Remove from molds and enjoy!

Notes

Tips/Tricks/Variations
*Add in some fresh fruit if you want. Pineapple, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, mango or anything else would be a nice touch. Just blend the fruit with the other ingredients so it’s smooth and creamy. 
*You can always increase or decrease the amount of sugar. As the popsicles freeze they tend to lose some of the sweetness, so go with a little more if you prefer things on the sweet. 
*You can swap the heavy cream for whole milk, but the mixture won’t be as thick when you pour it into the mold. It will still make a great popsicle though!
