Cinnamon Banana Apple Smoothie Bowl

I love a good smoothie bowl! It seems like most of the smoothie bowl recipes I come across are made with berries and greens, which I do enjoy. However, I had a bunch of apples in my refrigerator, which got me thinking. Hmmm...I rarely see apples used in the smoothie bowl recipes. So, I decided to see what they would taste like if I put together a simple smoothie bowl using them. The result? I came up with this Cinnamon Banana Apple Smoothie Bowl.  It turned out delicious and my kids also loved it too!

Is the Cinnamon Banana Apple Smoothie Bowl healthy?

Absolutely, the ingredients used in this smoothie bowl have a number of health benefits! Let me point out a few of the reasons I like to include some of these foods in my diet.

Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt is a great source of calcium! I am not much of a milk drinker, so I make sure to have Greek yogurt a few times a week. It also contains probiotics, which helps maintain gut health.

Banana: Bananas are one of the most popular fruits in the world. They are an excellent source of potassium and they contain powerful antioxidants. Banana are low in calories and can help satiate your appetite. They are a terrific base for any smoothie or smoothie bowl.

Almond Milk: Almond milk is a great alternative for regular milk for anyone that is lactose intolerant. It is naturally lactose-free, dairy-free and vegan. I like to use it in smoothie bowls because it is also low in calories.

Apple: Apples have a number of benefits ranging from boosting the immune system to aiding with digestive health. They are also a good source of fiber and vitamin C.

How do I make the smoothie bowl?

All you do is add the yogurt, banana, almond milk, apple, cinnamon and honey to a blender. Blend it until smooth.  Then add in about 2 cups of ice to thicken it, more or less depending on your preference. Once it is the desired degree of thickness, pour it into 2 bowls.

Top the smoothie bowls with fresh slices of apple and banana. Add a little granola, sprinkle with cinnamon and drizzle with honey. It is that easy!

Can I store the Cinnamon Banana Apple Smoothie Bowl?

It is best to enjoy it fresh out of the blender. However, it could be stored in a covered container for 2 or 3 days in the refrigerator. The ingredients may separate, so it would need to be put back in the blender to mix it back up.

What else can I add to the Smoothie Bowl?

Smoothie bowls are so versatile! However, the flavor of this one is unique as it tastes like apple pie. So, altering the ingredients, like adding in spinach or kale will definitely alter the flavor.
