Tips to Relieve Exercise Related Muscle Pain

Happy Monday, I hope you had a great weekend! It was a beautiful one here in Maine and I was able to get out and enjoy a long bike ride on Saturday and a distance run on Sunday. My training mileage is ramping up as my triathlon events come closer. I have been feeling good with the added training time, but I did wake up this morning with some seriously sore muscles. 1. Ice: Icing sore muscles after exercise is a quick and easy way to relieve muscle pain. Icing reduces inflammation by constricting blood vessels, which will slow down blood flow. 2. Keep Moving: While resting sore muscles is important, complete inactivity can prolong discomfort. Active recovery, like going for a walk or spinning your legs on a bike, is a great way to decrease the pain.

3. Hydrate: Staying well hydrated before, during, and after exercise is essential to warding off cramps and muscle pain. Muscle soreness can often be directly caused by dehydration. It is important during long periods of exercise to not only drink water, but also a drink containing electrolytes.

4. Stretch: Stretching before and after exercise is very important to prevent and manage muscle pain and stiffness. Stretching prior to exercise will help increase flexibility. While stretching after exercise will help increase range of motion.

  1. My biggest issue is not staying hydrated. Then I skip working out for days because I'm in so much pain. Maybe this product and more water will help make exercise easier to repeat.

  5. I usually use BioFreeze but have recently tried a CBD gel. I've only tried it twice and haven't seen a huge difference yet but I'll try it a few more times before making my decision!
  6. It's awesome that this article mentioned that staying well hydrated is a good way to ward off muscle pain. My daughter loves dancing and she does it daily with three different groups, which causes her to get muscle pain sometimes. We love organic and natural products, and we are looking for one that will help her keep dancing even after she gets sore.
