How Do I Make This Gingerbread Latte Recipe?

You don’t have to have any barista experience to whip up a delicious latte at home. All you need is some homemade syrup, espresso, and milk to make a coffeehouse latte right in your kitchen. Follow these three simple steps to make a delicious Christmas latte:

Step One: Prepare the Syrup

To make your own homemade gingerbread latte, start by preparing the gingerbread syrup. Combine the water, sugar, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan. Stir the ingredients to mix, then cook over medium heat. Allow the mixture to come to a boil, then reduce the heat and allow the ingredients to simmer for 15 minutes until a thick syrup begins to form. Remove the pan from heat and pour the syrup into a container. Set it aside and allow it to cool.

Step Two: Make the Espresso

While the gingerbread syrup is cooling, prepare the espresso using your favorite espresso maker. After the espresso is brewed, combine the coffee with steamed milk in a mug.

Step Three: Pour in the Syrup

Pour the gingerbread syrup into the latte and stir to combine. Continue adding more syrup to taste, then top the latte with whipped cream and a dusting of ground nutmeg before serving.

Gingerbread Latte Tips & Tricks

Since this coffee recipe is so simple to make, you can easily adjust the drink to suit your tastes. With these recipe tips and tricks, you can prepare a delicious holiday drink at home today:

How to Make Espresso at Home

Enjoying a delicious coffeehouse drink at home means you’ll need to learn how to brew your own espresso. Luckily, making fresh espresso isn’t difficult. There are two different methods you can use to brew espresso at home:

  • Espresso machine. The most popular method for making homemade espresso is with an espresso maker. To use an espresso machine, just place the ground coffee in the portafilter and rest the filter on a flat surface. Use the tamper to press down the grounds until they’re compact. After that, lock the portafilter into the machine, place your glass underneath, and start your shot.
  • Moka pot. Also known as a stovetop espresso maker, a Moka pot is a cost-effective way of brewing espresso at home. And while this mini coffee maker does brew strong, espresso-like coffee, it’s not technically espresso. But it still tastes great in a latte! To use your Moka pot, fill the lower chamber with water and fill the filter basket with finely ground coffee. Screw the two pieces together and place the pot on a stove set to medium heat. When the pot begins to hiss and bubble, remove it from the stovetop and immediately pour it into your mug.
