I am a huge fan of all types of mushrooms from simple white buttons to more obscure varieties like lobster mushrooms. I just love the flavor that they add to certain recipes whether it is in a sauce, soup or sauté. So, I try to add them to recipes whenever I can. This Vegetarian Shepherd’s Pie is loaded with them!

One of my favorite ways to make them is using this Oven Roasted Mushrooms recipe. They are so simple to prepare this way and are very flavorful. I enjoy them as a side dish, but the white mushrooms are also delicious on top of rice or pasta to create a fantastic vegetarian main dish.

What is the best way to clean the Mushrooms?

I typically clean mushrooms by wiping them with a damp paper towel. You could also use a specialized mushroom brush to wipe away any dirt. If you would like, you can quickly rinse the mushrooms under cold water but don’t leave them to soak and be sure to pat them dry. Wet mushrooms won’t brown very well.
