What do I need to make the Hot Cocoa Bombs?
- Semi Sphere Silicone Mold: I ordered this one from Amazon and it works great!
- Candy Melts: I used Pink, purple and blue candy melts. Candy melts are very easy to melt and remelt making them ideal for colorful cocoa bombs. I used Wilton Candy Melts that I ordered from Amazon because they are easy to find in a variety of colors.
- Strawberry Drink Powder: Nesquik is the only brand of strawberry drink powder I could find. I used strawberry for the color, so the drink would turn turn light purple when the bomb melts. However, standard hot cocoa powder can be used as well, but the end color of the drink will be darker.
- Baking Chips/Sprinkles: I used Yummalo “Unicorn” blend baking chips that I found out Walmart. These work well because they are bigger than sprinkles and are so colorful. However, if you can’t find them, a unicorn blend of sprinkles like Sweet Indeed Sprinklefetti is a good substitute!
- Mini Marshmallows: I just used plain Kraft Jet Puff Mini Marshmallows. If you want to add more color, try adding the fruit flavored ones.

How do I make the Galaxy Bomb Recipe?
While these pink, purple and blue swirled drink bombs look like they could be complicated to make, they are actually pretty easy to put together! Here is what you will need to do to create them.
Step 1: Melt the Candy Melts in the Microwave
In three separate, microwave safe bowls, melt the candy melts in 30 second increments, stirring in between. This will take 60-90 seconds.
Step 2: Swirl Melted Candy Melts into Mold
Next, spoon about half of a tablespoon of each color into each half sphere mold. Using the back of a spoon or a pastry brush, lightly swirl the colors together and spread around the entire mold. Make sure to not over swirl or the colors will all blend together.
Step 3: Allow to Set
Let set in the refirgerator or freezer for about 10 minutes or until hardened. As a precaution, reinforce the top edges of each half sphere with a little bit of the remaining candy melt. Let set for a minute until they are hardened again. This will prevent it from cracking when removed from the mold. Gently remove each half sphere from the molds.
Step 4: Add Ingredients to the Hot Cocoa Bombs
In 6 of the half spheres, spoon a tablespoon of the strawberry milk powder. Top with a tablespoon of sprinkles and several mini marshmallows.
Step 5: Assemble the Galaxy Hot Cocoa Bomb Together
Place a microwave safe plate into the microwave to heat for about 45 seconds. Then, place an empty half sphere onto the plate for a few seconds until the edges start to melt. Place the empty half onto the corresponding filled half ensuring the edges meet evenly all the way around. Run a clean finger around the edge to clean up any excess candy melt. Repeat with remaining 5 spheres until all of the cocoa bombs are assembled.
Step 6: Prepare Hot Cocoa and Enjoy!
To make hot cocoa simply place a bomb in the bottom of a mug and top with 6 oz of hot milk or water. Once the shell has melted, stir well to emulsify. Serve immediately and enjoy!
How do I store the Hot Cocoa Bombs?
The Galaxy Cocoa Bombs may be stored in a baggie or an airtight container on the counter for up to 2 weeks.
