So that's why you're better off planning ahead; you'll be able to get what you need, such as diabetic snacks, stay on a budget, and overall, it's just easier to eat healthier, too. For example, you can pack fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, baby carrots, you name it!

Stay Hydrated and Skip the Sodas

One of the easiest ways to derail your health on a road trip is by indulging in sugary drinks. Sure, this is low-hanging fruit advice, but the thing is, it's true! Yes! So, just think about it for a moment; sodas, energy drinks, and even fruit juices can be loaded with sugar, which can lead to energy crashes and dehydration. During a road trip (especially if you're the driver), it's something you're going to want to avoid at all costs!

You might even want to look for scenic rest stops or parks where you can have a quick family walk or even a mini picnic. These breaks not only help break up the monotony of the drive but also keep everyone feeling more energized and less cranky. Plus, they give you an opportunity to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
