Can You Make Frozen Hawaiian Punch Ahead of Time?

This frozen drink is blended with ice, which means it will melt quickly. That's why it's not a good idea to make your drink ahead of time. It will melt when stored in the refrigerator and freeze solid if it's placed in the freezer.

Can I Make Frozen Hawaiian Punch Without Sugar?

You may be thinking that Hawaiian Punch is sweet enough on its own - there's no reason to add more sugar! But there is a good reason for mixing in a small amount of additional sugar to your slush. The additional sugar is essential to keeping the ice from seizing up as you blend. Without the sugar, the ice could begin to clump up, making the slushie undrinkable.

Luckily, if you're hoping to avoid added sugar, you can substitute the white sugar in this recipe. Simply add your favorite sugar substitute. Just make sure to choose a granulated version for best results.

How to Get the Right Frozen Hawaiian Punch Consistency

McDonald's has a special blender used to make perfectly blended frozen drinks. And I'm guessing you don't have one of those in your kitchen! If you are using your countertop blender, there are a few steps you can take to help make your frozen drink perfect every time.

  • Use a tamper. A tamper is a great tool to use when blending frozen drinks because it helps all the ingredients get mixed together as the blender runs. Use the tamper to help stir the ingredients as they blend to ensure a smooth and even texture.
  • Add more liquid. After blending your frozen punch, you may find that your slushie is too thick to drink. If that's the case, simply add more Hawaiian Punch to the blender. Start with ¼ cup and add more, as needed. Blend after each addition.
  • Add more ice. On the other hand, you may find that your slushie is too watery. If that happens, you can easily thicken it with the addition of a handful of ice cubes. Blend the drink again, then add more, as needed, until the drink is thick enough.
  • Freeze the Hawaiian Punch before blending. Another simple way to get the perfect slush consistency is to start with frozen ingredients. Pour the Hawaiian punch into an ice cube tray and allow it to freeze solid. Then, toss the frozen cubes in the blender with a little bit of sugar and blend until smooth.

Can I Make Frozen Hawaiian Punch Without a Blender?

A countertop blender is the best tool for the job when making frozen drinks at home. But if you don't have one on hand, you could try using a food processor or immersion blender to create your slushie.

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a powerful blender. If necessary, use a tamper to stir the ingredients as they blend.
  • Blend until smooth, about a minute.
  • Pour into glasses and drink right away.

Notes

• I use a tamper for my blender because it’s not quite as powerful as I like it. It’s an older model, so you might not have to use one. However, if you have trouble with your blender not wanting to blend the ingredients, it should have come with a tamper you can use to keep the ice and ingredients moving for a nice smooth blend. That’s its entire purpose.
• You can add more juice if desired, but remember, more juice means a thinner slushie. This is totally preference based, so it’s up to you.
• The Hawaiian Punch brand has a ton of flavors. Feel free to use any flavor you like.
• You cannot make these ahead of time. They need to be consumed immediately upon being made. They will melt if left in the fridge and they will freeze as solid as a block of ice if stored in the freezer.
• The sugar aspect of this recipe is important because it helps the ice, once blended, to mix with the liquid. Without sugar, the two will fight to meld together. A mini science lesson, if you will.
