WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE WATERMELON SORBET?
I wasn't kidding when I said you just need 4 ingredients. If you've never made sorbet before, don't worry because it's a breeze. You will be amazed by how simple it is. Here are the ingredients you will need to prepare it:
- Sugar
- Water
- Lemon Juice
- Seedless Watermelon
Kitchen Items Needed:
- Kitchen Knife
- Cutting Board
- Saucepan
- Blender
- Electric Ice Cream Maker
- Airtight Freezer Container
- Ice Cream Scoop

HOW DO I MAKE WATERMELON SORBET?
STEP 1: PREPARE THE SUGAR MIXTURE AND BLEND INGREDIENTS
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook while stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Cool completely. Carefully pour the liquid into the blender. Place the watermelon in the blender over the liquid. Cover the blender and process until the watermelon is completely smooth.

STEP 2: PREPARE WATERMELON SORBET IN ICE CREAM MAKER, FREEZE AND SERVE
Transfer the watermelon mixture to the bowl of an electric ice cream maker. Make the sorbet according to the manufacturer's directions. When the sorbet consistency is reached, move the sorbet from the ice cream maker's bowl to an airtight freezer container. Freeze until firm. If the sorbet is too icy to scoop, allow to rest on the counter for 5 minutes prior to serving.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SORBET AND SHERBET
If you are like many people, you have been eating them for years without realizing they aren't the same thing. Both of them are made with fruit and sugar. But sherbet also has some type of cream to make it a tad bit creamier. However, sherbet isn't as creamy as ice cream would be. Sorbet can have a creamy texture as long as you use the correct ratio of sugar and fruit together. If you use less sugar, you will find that the sorbet turns out more icy than creamy, but still has fabulous flavors.

CAN I ADD ADDITIONAL FRUIT TO THE SORBET?
Yes, if you want to make a variety of flavors, you can add additional fruits to the sorbet. Don't go over 4 cups of total fruits for the one batch, or it won't turn out properly. Strawberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, or anything else you enjoy would be a great option. Just pick something that tastes good with watermelon, and you will be all set.
HOW LONG DOES HOMEMADE SORBET LAST?
Typically this homemade watermelon sorbet will last up to one month in the freezer. It needs to be kept airtight the entire time for best results. It will last longer than one month, but you will notice more ice crystals form after that, so it may not be as appealing. My recommendation is to just give it a taste and see if it's still good.
