Use a cookie scoop to form the dough into balls and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Make sure the cookies are around two inches apart to give them room to spread as they bake. Sprinkle the tops of the cookies with granulated sugar, then powdered sugar and place them in the oven to bake for 15 to 19 minutes, until the cookies are set.
Step Three: Decorate the Cookies
Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for around 10 minutes, then top the cookies with more powdered sugar. After that, press a candy heart into the top of each cookie while they're still soft and warm. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Grinch Sugar Cookie Recipe Ideas
You're going to love just easy these cute Grinch cookies are to make! And since they're so simple, you can have some fun adjusting the recipe to create a variety of adorable snacks! Use these recipe ideas as you're preparing your cookies to customize your own treats at home with your kids:
- Make your own sugar cookies. You can use any sugar cookie recipe to prepare these cute treats. Simply follow the recipe instructions for preparing the dough. Then, add green food coloring to the cookie dough and bake them according to the recipe instructions.
- Draw a heart on top. Finding heart shaped candy in December can sometimes be difficult. If you can't find any heart sprinkles to decorate your cookies, simply use some red icing to draw a heart on top. Tint premade icing with red food coloring and place it in a piping bag. Cut the tip off the bag and use the icing to decorate the tops of your cookies with hearts.
- Use green icing. Instead of adding green food coloring to your cookie dough, you can also make these cute Grinch cookies by decorating the tops of regular sugar cookies with green icing. Use green food coloring to tint a container of white icing, then spread the colored icing over the top of your baked cookies and decorate with a heart candy on top.

What Type of Food Coloring is Best for Baking?
Food coloring comes in two different types - gel and liquid. While both food coloring options work well in many cases, using gel food coloring is typically the best way to tint baked goods. That's because gel will add coloring to the dough without adding extra liquid, which could cause the cookies to spread as they bake. You will only need a few drops when using gel food coloring to tint your cookies. It's best to start slow and add more as needed, to ensure your cookie dough doesn't turn too dark.
How Do You Store Grinch Sugar Cookies?
These quick and easy cookies are great for celebrating the holiday season! You can store them for up to five days at room temperature. Transfer the baked cookies to an airtight container after they have completely cooled. Then, store them in a cool, dry place to ensure they stay fresh.
You can also keep your baked cookies in the freezer for more long-term storage. Arrange the baked cookies on a flat baking sheet or plate and place them in the freezer. Once the cookies are frozen solid, you can transfer them to a freezer bag or freezer safe container. The cookies can be kept in the freezer for up to three months.
