Would you like to save this?
Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables
As I mentioned in my Pro Tip, I make life easy (most of the time) and use bagged shredded cabbage and matchstick carrots. However, if I grate the carrots at home, it is important drain out as much liquid from the as possible by placing them on layers of paper towels. This will keep the veggies crisp in the coleslaw.
Place the cabbage and carrots in a large bowl. Toss the veggies well.
Step 2: Prepare the Dressing
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, sugar, salt, pepper, dry mustard and coriander seeds. Add the dressing to the cabbage and carrot mixture. Toss well to coat all of the veggies with the dressing.
Step 3: Refrigerate & Serve
For the best flavor, the coleslaw should be covered and refrigerated for at least one hour before serving. This will allow the flavorful dressing to soak in to the carrots and cabbage. Serve it up chilled with your favorite meal!

How do I store the Classic Creamy Coleslaw?
It can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days after being prepared.
What do I serve the Coleslaw with?
Coleslaw is a versatile side dish that is perfect along traditional barbecue foods. It is also delicious on top of pulled pork sandwiches.
Can I add anything else to the Coleslaw Recipe?
Absolutely, this is a very simple version. Sometimes I add ½ regular cabbage and ½ purple cabbage to give it extra color. I also like to add in ½ cup cherry tomatoes (cut in half). My kids enjoy it with the addition of 2 Tablespoons of raisins and sunflower seeds sprinkled on top once served. These are just a few ideas!
