I just love making homemade ice cream! It is such a fun treat for the kids, especially during warmer weather. I have seen a number of ice cream recipes using one of my favorites foods...the avocado. So, I decided to play around in the kitchen and try making a batch of avocado ice cream.
What did I come up with? This delicious Homemade Chocolate Avocado Ice Cream. It was so easy to make and the entire family loved it! An added bonus is this ice cream recipe is: vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free!

What do I need to make the Homemade Chocolate Avocado Ice Cream?
As I mentioned above, this ice cream recipe is super easy to make! There are just six ingredients that you will need:
- Canned Coconut Milk
- Avocados
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- Vanilla Extract
- Coconut Milk
- Sugar

- Blender or Food Processor
- Ice Cream Scooper

How do I make the Homemade Chocolate Avocado Ice Cream?
There are just a few steps to making this delicious vegan dessert!
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

Pour the canned coconut milk in the blender. Then, measure out cocoa powder, vanilla extract, coconut milk and sugar and add it to the blender. Cut the avocados in half lengthwise and remove the pits. Then, take a spoon and carefully scoop out the flesh from the peel. Place in the blender.
Step 2: Blend the Ingredients and Freeze
Blend the ingredients until they are pureed. Transfer to a covered container and place in the freezer.
*Pro Tip: To avoid an icy texture, stir the ice cream every 20 minutes until the ice cream begins to harden. Then, place a small piece of plastic wrap over top of the ice cream. Cover and store in the freezer until completely frozen. If the ice cream becomes icy, thaw it out for about 10 minutes before serving.

- 2 medium avocados
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup coconut milk
