This Banana Cinnamon Smoothie is easy to make and so delicious! It is perfect for breakfast on the go or for a post-workout treat!

Happy Friday, I hope you have had a great week! Mine has been pretty hectic, so I am definitely looking forward to the weekend. I am hoping to get to the pool on Saturday and Sunday. I am doing a swim challenge right now. In order to complete the challenge, I need to log 100 miles of swimming between November 1st and February 28th, which is a LOT of time in the pool!

So needless to say, I am starving all the time! I don't know what it is about swimming and hunger, but I know I am not alone.  In an effort to not fill up on a lot of junk, I am on a green smoothie kick. I have been doing a little experimenting with them as well. This morning I came up with this delicious Banana Cinnamon Smoothie. I don't know why I had never thought to add cinnamon to a green smoothie before, but I will definitely be using it more often now.

Why add cinnamon to a smoothie?

Cinnamon has a number of evidence-based health benefits! It has anti-inflammatory properties, so it is helpful after a hard workout. This tasty spice is also loaded with antioxidants to protect your body from damage by free radicals. It is considered a superfood, so why not toss some into a smoothie to give it a powerful health boost?

Can I alter this to make it a vegan smoothie?

Yes, absolutely! I used the ingredients on hand this morning. However, the regular milk could easily be substituted with almond milk or coconut milk. Same with the yogurt...a plant-based one could be used. Another option would be to omit the yogurt and add a whole banana.
