How Do I Make This Air Fryer Chickpeas Recipe?

Using your air fryer to make crispy chickpeas is so simple to do. In fact, you can whip up this quick snack recipe with just a few minutes of prep work. All you have to do is follow these three easy steps to start enjoying this healthy snack.

Step One: Roast the Chickpeas

After you wash and dry your garbanzo beans, line your air fryer basket with parchment paper, then spread them in an even layer in the basket. Cook the chickpeas at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, or until the beans are golden brown. Every 10 minutes, remove the basket from the air fryer and shake it to toss the beans for even cooking.

Step Two: Prepare the Seasoning

While the chickpeas are roasting, make your cool ranch seasoning by stirring together the buttermilk powder, parsley, granulated garlic, granulated onion, dill weed, onion flakes, chives, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.

Step Three: Season the Chickpeas

Transfer the cooked chickpeas to a large bowl and toss them with olive oil. Add the ranch seasoning blend and toss the chickpeas until all the beans are fully coated with seasoning.

Can You Roast Canned Chickpeas?

Using canned chickpeas is a great way to speed up the prep time of your favorite healthy snack. That’s because there’s no need to pre-cook your canned garbanzo beans before roasting them. But before you start cooking your canned beans, there are a few steps you need to take to get them ready for cooking in the air fryer.

  1. Drain and rinse the beans. Pour the canned garbanzo beans into a strainer and rinse them under cold water until the water runs clean. After the beans are cleaned, allow them to rest in the strainer for a few minutes to let the excess water drip off.
  2. Dry the beans. Next, spread the clean beans over the top of a clean kitchen towel. Make sure the beans are in an even layer and not layered on top of each other. Use another towel or a paper towel to blot the beans dry.
  3. Cook the beans and add seasoning. Once your beans are dry, they’re ready for roasting. Roast the beans in your air fryer or oven, then add some oil and toss the beans with your favorite seasoning blend.

Air Fryer Chickpeas Tips and Tricks

You’re going to love how easy it is to make your own roasted chickpeas at home using your air fryer. And with these cooking tips and tricks, you’ll be able to whip up your favorite snack in a matter of minutes.

  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. To ensure all your chickpeas cook evenly, it’s important that you avoid overcrowding the basket of your air fryer. As you spread the beans in an even layer in the basket, make sure none of the beans are overlapping. If all the beans don’t fit in the basket at once, cook them in batches to avoid under- or over-cooking your chickpeas.
  • Try using premade seasoning. Speed up the prep work of this simple snack recipe by using premade ranch seasoning. Instead of mixing up your own spice blend, just toss your cooked beans in packaged ranch seasoning to quickly and easily add tons of flavor to your snack.
  • Cook the chickpeas in the oven. Using your air fryer is a simple way to roast the chickpeas, but it’s not the only cooking method you can use. If you don’t have an air fryer at home, cook the chickpeas in the oven. Spread the garbanzo beans evenly on a baking sheet and cook them at 400 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes, tossing halfway through the cook time.

These roasted chickpeas are best when they’re enjoyed right after you’re finished cooking them. The longer they sit out, the less crispy they will be. That’s why it’s a good idea to eat the chickpeas within one day of preparing the recipe.

If you have leftovers, you can store your roasted beans in an airtight container. To help the chickpeas stay crispy, try leaving the lid of your container slightly cracked to allow air to get to the chickpeas while they’re being stored.
