Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Line the bottom and sides of an 8-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil. If you don’t have foil, parchment paper will be just fine.
Pit the dates and tear with your fingers into a saucepan.
Add cinnamon, cover with a cup of cold water, and bring to the boil
After it has bubbled for 5 minutes, turn the heat off, and make a rough purée by beating the mixture with a fork.
Put remaining ingredients into a large bowl.
Add the date mixture and mix everything together.
Scrape the mixture into the tin, press it all down evenly.
Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Make sure the mixture is firm and set.
Remove from the oven. Place the pan on a wire rack, giving the bars time to cool in the baking pan.
Cut the hardened mixture into pieces.
