Tips for Proper Running Gear

You may not think that choosing the right outfit for a run is a big deal. However, if you have ever been on a run with a garment that is chafing you, and making every step about 100 times harder than it needs to be, you'll know that the right outfit can make or break your experience. With that in mind, you must know how to pick the perfect garments for your next run. A topic you can find out more about in the post below.

Tips for Proper Running Gear

Do check your measurements

First off, it is always valuable to check your measurements before buying running gear. Primarily online as you may fall foul of the fact that there is still little size standardization between brands. Something that means a 2 in one store can be equivalent to a 4 somewhere else.

Additionally, knowing your minimum and maximum for legging lengths can be a big deal too, as it's all too easy for these to rub against each other if you choose the wrong size. Something that can be annoying on a short run, and downright painful on one over a longer course. To that end, always be sure that you know your measurements and compare these to the detailed breakdown of the item you are buying.

Don't fall for fakes

Next, you mustn't end up buying fake sportswear for your run. If you want to be as comfortable as possible, that is. This is because a lot of the phoney stuff looks like the high-end brands on first glance, and of course, costs a lot less. However, it is rarely made with the same quality materials, or to the same standards.

Of course, this means that at best the item is unlikely to last as long. Especially with the wear and tear regular running can impose on it. At worst, however, you could end up missing out of the valuable moisture-wicking, air circulation, or anti-chafing properties a lot of these garments claim to have. Something that could cause you considerable pain and may even endanger your ability to stay the course.

Do try things on first

Also, if you want to get properly kitted out for your next run, making an effort to go into the store and try pieces on its a smart idea. In fact, with shoes, this is even more important because everybody has their own gait. Therefore if you aren't checking to see that footwear you buy fits this, you are opening yourself up to a whole host of problems.

Happily, many sportswear shots now offer gait analysis where they get you to run on a machine and track which side of your foot hits the ground first. A process that means they can match you up with the footwear that will not just be comfortable but should also help to improve your performance as well. Something that definitely makes going into the store to try things out before you buy a vital part of getting kitted out for your next run.
