That rule is, stop eating processed foods. Processed foods cover things like ready meals, cooked meats, store-bought baked goods and pretty much anything else that is made for you and ready to eat. Processed foods are usually delicious, but there is a reason for that. It’s because they’re packed full of fat and salt, and they don’t have much nutritional value at all. But if you made the same dish from scratch, using fresh ingredients, you get all of the nutritional value without the unwanted extras. It is believed that a lot of the additives used in processed food can kill off healthy bacteria and promote the growth of bad bacteria, leading to gut health problems. Issues with your gut can cause constant nausea and contribute to a range of other conditions, so it’s vital that you maintain the balance of bacteria.

Processed foods often use a lot of sugar to make them taste good, and everybody knows that sugar is awful for your health. It’s full of calories and has no nutritional value, so cutting out sugar helps with the weight gain we discussed earlier. Sugar also feeds bad bacteria in the gut, so reducing sugar helps with gut health too. However, it gets its own entry on this list because it causes a lot of other serious health conditions as well. Consuming too much sugar can lead to diabetes, and it contributes to inflammatory diseases too. Sugar is also very addictive and causes you to crash after consuming a lot of it, which is often the reason that people feel fatigued all of the time.
