I just love the holiday season for so many reasons! Baking, cooking, and eating holiday food, are definitely some of my favorite things to do this time of year. However, I do have a sensitive stomach, so I need to watch what I eat to avoid having any gastrointestinal (GI) distress.

I am still able to indulge in holiday goodies though. Moderation is key for me to avoid having any GI issues. I have come up with these Holiday Survival Tips for People with Sensitive Stomachs. Check them out below.

Figuring out what foods trigger GI distress for you is the first place to start because it is not the same for everyone. A good way to determine what causes stomach issues like bloating, gas and occasional diarrhea is to keep a food journal. Take note of what was eaten before you developed an upset stomach. For me, high fat items and fried foods are triggers. So I make sure I am prepared by taking IMODIUM® Multi-Symptom Relief Anti-Diarrheal Medicine Caplets on an empty stomach 1 hour before I have a meal that might aggravate my stomach.

Proper hydration is important for a number of reasons and aiding in digestion is at the top of the list! So, if you suffer from stomach sensitivity, make sure to drink plenty of water each day. It is also important to limit caffeine or alcohol intake as these fluids can cause stomach irritation.

As I mentioned above, eating in moderation is key for me. For example, I love to prepare and eat a big Thanksgiving dinner with a variety of side dishes and desserts.  However, I know that it can trigger gas and bloating. So, in order to enjoy all of the goodies, I take small portions of each one and take my time eating them.

Being proactive has been a game changer for me when it comes to managing my GI issues. As I mentioned above, if I know I am going to eat fried and/or high fat foods, I take IMODIUM® an hour before my meal with a full glass of water. Of course, during the busy holiday season, my meals are not always planned. So when I find myself eating something that may irritate my stomach without planning ahead, I take IMODIUM® 2 hours after the meal with a full glass of water.

I know I am not the only one in my family that struggles with GI issues. But I do know that the foods that trigger these problems can be unique to each individual.  Sometimes these issues are related to dairy products. In this case, taking LACTAID® along with any dairy products eaten can help alleviate any discomfort. On the other hand, when people experience heartburn caused by acid indigestion, taking PEPCID AC® before eating anything that may aggravate these symptoms is very helpful.

These 3 great products are essential to have on hand during the holiday season if you or your loved ones suffer from GI issues related to different foods. They are easy to pick-up at your local Walmart store or can be conveniently ordered at

You may be wondering how IMODIUM® helps to prevent or relieve GI discomfort. So, let me share a little bit more about this medication that has enabled me to truly enjoy some of my favorite foods again.

  • No OTC brand is faster or more effective for diarrhea relief
  • It combines two powerful ingredients for fast relief of diarrhea and starts to work within one hour,  plus relief of gas, cramps, and bloating
  • IMODIUM® Multi-Symptom Relief works 33 percent faster than loperamide alone to relieve diarrhea
  • IMODIUM® is the #1 doctor recommended brand of OTC anti-diarrheal products for over 20 years and is the #1 pharmacist recommended brand of anti-diarrheal products
  • No other OTC anti-diarrheal works faster than IMODIUM® Multi-Symptom Relief for diarrheal relief
  • Nothing works faster to relief diarrhea than IMODIUM® Multi-Symptom Relief when compared among OTC anti-diarrheal medicines

Do you love holiday food, but have a sensitive stomach? Have you tried taking IMODIUM® to help with any stomach discomfort like diarrhea, gas and/or bloating?

Thank you so much for stopping by. As always, I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below. Have a great week!
