Step 1: Make the Peppermint Syrup
Start off by making the key ingredient in the beverage: Peppermint syrup. In a medium saucepan, add the water and sugar. Stir the mixture, then bring to a boil. Continue to stir to prevent burning, then reduce heat to low and simmer. When the sugar has completely dissolved in the water, add in 1 ½ teaspoons of peppermint extract and stir well. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Mocha
In a small bowl, mix together warm water and cocoa to create a paste-like mixture. Stir in additional 1 ½ teaspoons of peppermint extract. Then, add hot espresso and stir until everything is well combined. Add in 1 tablespoon of peppermint syrup and steamed milk. Stir again to combine.

- ½ cup hot espresso
- 1.5 teaspoons peppermint extract
- 1.5 cups steamed milk

For the peppermint syrup:
- In a medium saucepan, add the water and sugar. Stir the mixture, then bring to a boil. Continue to stir to prevent burning, then reduce heat to low and simmer.
- When the sugar has completely dissolved in the water, add in 1 ½ teaspoons of peppermint extract and stir well. Remove from heat and set aside.
For the peppermint mocha:
