It has been ages since I have tried new running sneakers!  I have been a die hard Asics fan since High School, which was just a few years (or...decades) ago. However, recently, they changed manufacturers and my beloved  Gel Nimbus just did not fit right anymore. I have struggled with plantar fasciitis in the past, so the right neutral running shoe is essential to avoid flare ups of this very painful problem. I began shoe hopping when I noticed the different fit, but only within the Asics line and still have not found the right shoe.

I have heard so many wonderful things about Mizunos that when the opportunity arose to give them a try, I jumped on it! I received a beautiful brand new pair of the Neutral Mizuno Wave Rider 20's in the mail about a month ago. I was so excited to take them for a spin.  I was not sure what to expect, but I fell in love with them on my first run (and a about a dozen subsequent runs).

What do I Love so much? Here are my Top 5 Favorite things about the Mizuno Wave Rider 20:

  1. They are light weight, yet durable and sturdy.
  2. The mesh fabric on the top of the shoe has great breathability.
  3. The cushioning inside of the sneaker is the perfect amount, just enough, but not too much!
  4. The heel collar is soft and prevents rubbing and irritation.
  5. The soul of the shoe is responsive and softens the impact on my joints.

I need to add a #6, as well: The Color! I love the Gunmetal-Fuschia Purple, which are the one's I received to test out (pictured at the top). However, I like to have at least 2 pairs of running shoes to alternate wearing, so I hopped on the website to check out the other colors.  So now I have a big decision to make: do I go with the BatonRouge-White or the Blue Atoll-Silver?

  3. These shoes are so pretty!!! I have used the Wave Inspires (stability shoe), and LOVED my first pair (WI-8's). Since then, the shoe has been tweaked a bit and still fits and works great...just not as great as my beloved 8's. I might be giving them another chance when I'm ready for new shoes in the spring. I think the Wave Riders are neutral shoes (?), so I don't think they'd be a good option for over-pronating feet. ;-(

  5. I had to give up running due to a knee injury but I still walk. I may consider looking at these when I go to purchase a new pair. Thanks for sharing :-)

  8. It sounds like these are really wonderful shoes. I can tell they are cute but I would love having a pair of shoes that had these benefits. Thanks for introducing me to Mizuno as I've never heard of their brand before.

  10. Well I love the colors and they sound awesome. I find that once I find a pair of shoes that I love, it's hard to even try anything else. Maybe it's time I make a switch.

  16. I've been noticing this too with Asics. I hate when they ruin a good thing. I just got another style for winter running but I think I'm going to keep my options more open. Crazy since I was a Saucony only until a few years ago when the day came they didn't work for me.

  18. I wore Asics as a teenager as well, it was the only shoe that worked well for cheering. I'm ot a runner today(Asthma) but glad you were able to find some pavement in your new sneakers

  23. Never heard of Mizunos - but sounds like they are really great shoes! I think you should get the blue ones - love that shade and its a bright, happy color!

  27. I am an Asics girl myself but i know a lot of people who looove Mizuno! I have tried them but they didn't have enough support for me compared to Asics.

  28. Blue-Atoll Silver gets my vote! They are both awesome but there is something about that blue that perks me up and makes me want to hit the ground running!

  29. I wondered how these would compare to the New Balance ones that I own. I have plantar fasciatis and I wondered how these would fair.

  31. I definitely love the red ones! I know how hard it is to get well fitting shoes. When I find some I wear them until they wear down! Nice mizuno's I will look into them.

  32. I love these shoes! I also have a pair! They are my favorite running shoes / hiking shoes. I have a broken foot that never healed right, so good shoes are super important!!!

  35. I've heard a lot of good things about these shoes! I was able to witness Marcia running her half in them this past weekend and they sound like they would be a great alternative to my beloved Gel Nimbus!
