Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter a 9×13-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Set aside.
Beat the butter and cream cheese until very smooth and creamy.
Add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until well combined, scraping down the bowl.
Gradually add the flour mixture and mix just until incorporated.
Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is no longer wet. Do not overbake.
Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before frosting.
