Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 can crescent rolls
  • 6 fresh jalapeños
  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese
  • ½ cup cheddar Jack blend cheese, shredded may substitute with Mexican blend, cheddar or mozzarella
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • 24 candy eyeballs

Instructions

  • Clean and prepare jalapeños by slicing them open, removing the seeds and the white membrane that seeds are attached to. Try to leave the stem intact as it provides a perfect handle.
  • Rinse the jalapeños out with cold water and place on paper towels to dry,
  • Roll out crescent roll dough leaving individual rolls together. Pinch the perforated lines closed.
  • Place dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll flat to ⅛” thick.
  • Cut slices lengthwise with a pizza cutter to mimic mummy wrap. Set aside.
  • Add cheese and garlic to a mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer until light and airy
  • Fill the inside of the jalapeños with cheese mixture.
  • Wrap the jalapeños in the dough to mimic a mummy. You can overlap the dough but the dough will expand so do not over-wrap the jalapeños. You want to see the jalapeños under the wrapping.
  • Whisk the egg and brush over the wrapped jalapeños.
  • Place in a parchment-lined air fryer basket. Cook for 10 minutes at 375°f or until the dough is golden brown.
  • Once cooked remove and let cool. Place two eyes on each jalapeño pushing into the cheese filling.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Oven Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with tin foil or parchment paper.
  • Follow steps above in air fryer instructions for creating the mummy poppers. (Preparing jalapeños through brushing with egg wash)
  • Place them on prepared baking sheet. Bake on center rack in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the dough is lightly browned.

It is best to frequently check food the first time cooking it in your air fryer at home, as you may need to adjust timing and temperature for best results in your air fryer.
