Many of us have set goals and resolutions for the New Year. So, how are we doing with them? The first week or two is when people feel the most motivated, but then the enthusiasm starts to wear off. Get plenty of rest

I know this may seem like a funny tip to start out with. However, many of us are walking around sleep deprived and it can have a serious impact on the ability to reach our health and fitness goals. Aim to get 8 hours of sleep every night.  It's a minor way to majorly improve your health.

Invest in something

When motivation is low, sometimes investing in something like a new pair of sneakers or a fun exercise outfit can help boost it! You do not need to spend a ton of money, but think of something that will inspire you to get out the door. Another idea is to buy a pass for classes at your local gym or yoga studio.

Workout with a friend

I love working out with friends! It is great for accountability. If you are meeting someone, you are much less likely to make excuses; such as, "I'm too busy". Having an exercise buddy also makes the time go by quicker and can make workouts much more enjoyable! This is an excellent way to help keep you on the path to reach your health and fitness goals!

Change it up

If your old fitness routine is feeling lackluster, try something new to help get moving again! It is important to have fun, try new things, and find something that you truly enjoy! It is also great to mix things up. Rather than going for a run or spending an hour at the gym, why not try and play a game of tennis with a friend or go for a bike ride with your family?

Keep a journal

I mentioned the importance of writing down your goals in my previous post Tips for a Fit and Healthy New Year. Taking it a step further by keeping a journal is a very powerful tool to help stay on track with health and fitness goals. I like to keep track of my exercise, so I write it down each day and then I add up the hours at the end of the week. Another thing to try is keeping a food journal. It does not have to be elaborate, but writing down what you eat for snacks and at each meal can be very beneficial to help reach goals. Tips to Stick to Health and Fitness Goals

Participate in a challenge

There are all types of fitness and healthy living challenges out there! Some can be found on-line, others might be in your community or at your local gym. I am currently participating in a swim challenge at my fitness center. It has really helped motivate me to get the pool! I am also participating in the Silk® 30 Day Challenge, which has kept me on track with my goal to add more plant-based foods to my diet. What is the Silk® 30 Day Challenge?

It is a 30 day challenge to incorporate more plant-based foods into your diet and/or upping your fitness routine! I love the convenience of finding Silk® products at Walmart. I replaced my typical snack withSilk® Vanilla Almond Yogurt Alternative. It is vegan, gluten-free and has 5 grams of plant protein. It is so creamy and delicious too!Apple, Silk water bottle, Almond milk yogurt and purple sneakers

Remember: Progress is Perfection®

This is such an important reminder on any health and fitness journal. Dramatic results are not going to happen right away, but as long as gradual progress is made, it is perfection! As I mentioned above, I made a small change by replacing my usual snack with Silk® Vanilla Almond Yogurt Alternative. It was not difficult! It has been easy to stick to this change too as I pick up the Silk® Yogurt Alternative at Walmart when I am doing my weekly shopping. Silk Almond milk yogurt at Walmart

I'm not a runner by any means, but I could be! I also want to start a journal, but I haven't had a chance to get one going just yet. It's on my list to do this weekend.
  7. I will save your post to motivate me. I need to stick with my fitness goals for 2020 and I need all the tips I can get.

  11. excellent tips Angela! I'm just taking small steps each day to make a few changes. I did buy a journal specifically for my health and weight journey. We don't have this brand here in the Netherlands or I'm sure I would try it! I'm just not a fan of flavoured dairy alternative products; if anything it should be a very soft / light taste. I tend to just add some sweet fruit and it's good to go
  12. I'm trying to do yoga each morning for 30 days to try and make it a habit. It seems like a short enough amount of time not to seem too intimidating, yet enough to hopefully make it part of my routine. Gook luck with your goals this year!
