Do you ever experience digestive problems after consuming protein powders or supplements? Check out this post that highlights post-workout protein for sensitive stomachs.
I am in the thick of IRONMAN training right now, so I have been doing a lot of big workouts. This leads to one thing, I am hungry all the time! I am trying to be disciplined and choose nutritious food to fuel my body after 3-hour bike rides and 90 minutes of swimming. However, I typically have to eat on-the-go after exercising. So, one of my favorite things to have afterward is a protein-filled smoothie. I load fresh fruits and veggies into the blender along with greek yogurt and protein powder. Then, I enjoy it as I am carpooling my kids to various activities or sitting down to work.
Post-Workout Protein for Sensitive Stomachs
It has been trial and error over the years to find what works as I do have a sensitive stomach. Some forms of protein supplements have wreaked havoc on my digestive tract. At one point, I stopped using them altogether. I talked to several different people to see what worked for them. This is when I learned about an ingredient called ProHydrolase. It has been a game changer for me! Now, I can enjoy my post-workout protein smoothies without upsetting my sensitive stomach.
ProHydrolase is a Non-GMO and Star-K Kosher certified ingredient that can be found in some brands of protein supplements. It optimizes the benefits of these supplements by helping the body to absorb the protein. By doing this, ProHydrolase decreases digestive discomfort that occurs when protein is not broken down. It works to help digest many different forms of protein, including: whey, soy, egg, casein, hemp, and pea.
There have been a number of studies done with ProHydrolase to prove its efficacy. What did they show? ProHydrolase rapidly breaks down protein and increases the availability of amino acids in the blood stream. It works to reduce large peptides that are related to stomach discomfort after protein consumption. These studies have also shown that ProHydolase decreases C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, which is a marker of inflammation in the body.
Post-Workout Tropical Protein Smoothie
Now that I have discovered ProHydrolase, I look for protein powders and supplements that contain this ingredient. One of my favorite post-workout drinks is this quick and easy tropical protein smoothie!
