We always enjoy having pizza night at our house. Preparing various flavors of pizza is just so much fun. Sometimes, we stick with basic flavors like pepperoni, hamburger, or sausage. Or we will go with a veggie pizza and pile on all of our favorite vegetables.

Our newest addition is this fig pizza, though. It’s seriously so easy to make and the kids love the flavor!  The figs are sweet and go beautifully with the ricotta cheese and drizzled honey. One thing I really enjoy about this pizza recipe is that it looks so fancy. You can serve it for dinner guests, and they will be so impressed with the lovely presentation.

HOW DO I MAKE FIG PIZZA?

The fig pizza can be thrown together in just a few steps! This pizza is simple enough that your kids can help you make it. Here are the easy-to-follow steps.

STEP 1: PREPARE THE DOUGH AND ADD THE RICOTTA

Start off by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Then, roll out the pizza dough onto the parchment lined sheet.  Spread ricotta cheese onto the dough.

*Pro Tip: Spray a little cooking spray onto the baking sheet before lining it with parchment paper. This will help the parchment paper stick to the tray and lay flat.

STEP 2: ADD FIGS AND BAKE

Slice figs and place on the dough. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 22 minutes or until golden brown.

STEP 3: ADD HONEY, SLICE, AND ENJOY!

Drizzle with honey (about 2 tablespoons). Slice the pizza and enjoy it!

FIG PIZZA VARIATIONS

You know how much I love adding a variety of ingredients to my recipes. This pizza recipe lends itself to a number of different options too. Here are some of favorite variations that I think you will enjoy!

  • Caramelized Onions: Cook some sweet onions in a skillet with some butter or olive oil to caramelize them. They will add even more sweetness and texture to the pizza.
  • Proscuitto: Add a few pieces of smoked prosciutto to the pizza. It’s so tasty and really enhances the flavors giving the fig pizza a salty sweet taste.
  • Mozzarella Cheese: You can sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on top to make it extra cheesy. I recommend 1/2 – 1 cup for the best results.
  • Spinach: If you want to increase the nutrients, add some spinach to the pizza. It’s also a great way to add color too.
  • Arugula: You can add a little bit of arugula on top after you take the pizza out of the oven. It’s a zesty flavor that pairs well with the sweetness of the figs. Add the arugula after removing from the oven, then drizzle with honey.
  • Bacon: Cook up some bacon so it’s nice and crispy. Then, crumble it and add it on top of the fig pizza. This will also give the pizza a salty sweet flavor.

HOW DO YOU STORE LEFTOVER PIZZA?

Keep the cooled pizza in a food container with a tight-fitting lid. The pizza will last in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can reheat it when you are ready to eat it. To reheat, place on a microwave-safe plate and heat up for 30 to 45 seconds, depending on microwave wattage. If you want the crust to be more crispy, you can reheat it in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Lastly, you can also reheat it in an air fryer at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. It should be crispy and hot before serving.
