HOW DO I MAKE BLUEBERRY STRAWBERRY DUMP CAKE?
It’s super simple to throw this cake together, and it will taste like it was made in a fancy bakery. Try it and see! Here are the simple steps to get you started:
STEP 1: PREPARE THE PAN AND ADD THE PIE FILLING
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9×13 inch pan with non-stick cooking spray. Pour in the blueberry and strawberry pie filling into the baking pan. Add in the vanilla and stir it thoroughly.
STEP 2: ADD THE CAKE MIX AND BUTTER
Sprinkle cake mix on top of the berries. Make sure to cover the berries entirely and don’t let any shine through. Drizzle melted unsalted butter on top of cake. Add pecans to the top of the cake mix.
STEP 3: SPRINKLE ON THE SUGAR TOPPING AND BAKE
Combine cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and mix well. Sprinkle on top of the cake. Bake 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown, and some of the berries are boiling out the top.
HOW DO I STORE LEFTOVER BLUEBERRY STRAWBERRY DUMP CAKE?
It’s imperative to let the cake cool all the way down to room temperature before storing it. Once it’s cooled all the way, add a lid to the pan or cover it with heavy-duty aluminum foil. It should be kept airtight and in the fridge.
There are many people who leave food like dump cakes on the counter, and if you are fine with that, you sure can. I prefer to keep desserts like this strawberry dump cake in the fridge. When stored on the counter, it will only last 1 or 2 days. But in the fridge, it lasts 3 – 4 days.
You can enjoy the cake at room temperature, chilled, or warmed up in the microwave. I almost always warm mine up for 10-15 seconds before eating, but that’s not required.
CAN I USE DIFFERENT CAKE MIX?
Yes! You can add any variety of cake that you want. I love the intense flavor of the French vanilla cake mix, so I almost always use it. Chocolate cake, white cake, and even lemon cake would be fun and unique options to try.
IS IT OKAY TO USE DIFFERENT PIE FILLINGS?
Of course! You can easily use just strawberry pie filling, just blueberry pie filling, or something completely different. Cherry, apple, and peach are all fantastic choices and would be delicious as well. Try different varieties to see what you like best! While we are on the subject of desserts, you should try my Fresh Rainier Cherry Crumble too, it’s incredible.
